City of Stolen Magic

An Entry to the Penguin Cover Awards 2024

Artists are tasked with re-imagining a book cover proposed by Penguin. I designed an entry for the Children’s category: an alternative cover for the book written by Nazneen Pathak, entitled City of Stolen Magic. My design was inspired by the story’s focus on colonial Indian heritage, drawing from the farsi alphabet and indigo fabrics, encapsulated by the main character herself, “Chompa”, and her fire powers.
